Just thought about it. We have one of the best system of law enforcement around. . Its how law enforcement should be. An effective system to Wipe out the ills in our society and Strike fear in the hearts of criminals. The Singapore police will not bow down to criminals , theives, murderers and thugs. In other countries, criminals have the upper hand when it comes to law loopholes. I say to hell with the human rights. All who do harm to others will have to perish.

Walking through nearly 200 years of the Police Force’s history left me convinced that our reputation for safety is not a hollow name. Neither was it established overnight. The sweat and tears that go on behind the scenes are enormous, in order to achieve the trust and admiration of fellow citizens today.

As I look beyond the shorts that our police force donned in the past, I discover lion-hearted courage that surfaces especially in times of need, helping a young nation like ours stand firm amidst tension and terror.

The duties which a police officer owes to the state are of a most exacting nature. No one is compelled to choose the profession of a police officer, but having chosen it, everyone is obliged to live up to the standard of its requirements. To join in that high enterprise means the surrender of much individual freedom. To the men and women, i salute you.

      Majullah Singapura,

      Son of Singapore.

    • gambling and drugs are 2 major problem area for crime. if you notice, drug is under better control compared to gambling.

      know why?

    • pls. There are so many cases of robbery, assault, etc in which the criminals were never found & caught and escaped scot-free. Of course, the police aren't superman. Well, simply put, they don't bother.

And they only bother arresting harmless old folks who simply gambled under the void deck at the senior citizens' corner.

      wtf?!

Are you sure? Just went for and came back from another round of reservist lately. I can tell you, that's definitely not what I felt with the npc I was attached with. I am not saying all police officers are saints. That is definitely not the case. But to say they simply dun bother or only care to harass harmless old folks gambling at voiddecks is surely untrue, if the team I was attached with recently is anything to go by.

Anyway, public gambling is an offence in the first place. Mostly they just chase away or stop the ppl from doing so. If it ended up in arrests, then the ppl doing it probably went overboard.

They are breaking the law, so the police have to deal with them. what should they have done, walk away from them and their duty? You want police who does that?

the unsolved crimes... well, they are working on it. You want 100% crime clear rates, go to a country with 100% crime clear rate which.... doesn't exist.

    • This is nuisance, call, there is a law about it. It is the truth that he has not done anything yet, he is only guilty of nuisance call.

      Here's what you should do:

contact your service provider about this nuisance call. even if the number is not displayed, the telco provider will still be able to trace the call, if he call alot of times.

the telco will send warning letter to the offender. If he persist, the telco will inform the police, and they will have the evidence to back it up.

The police officer who handled your case is probably a newbie, and did not advice you properly. It is indeed true that the police can't do much in that case, but he did not direct you to the proper action to take.

Its a civil suit if you are willing to persue this matter.  But most it can do is cut off his ability to register a line for handphone.

Since you already got underworld friends to settle the issue instead of goign for it legally, why gripe now?  Makes you sound superior?
